College is the final stage of most high school students. It marks the end of the juvenile stage and the beginning of adulthood and with maturation comes more and more responsibilities. One of these responsibilities is to find a house in which one can start his adulthood stage. For university students there are two main choices of residence, university dormitories or apartments in the community. My main reason of comparison is to show that dormitories can be more helpful.
Dormitories have an advantage over community apartments in that the former are much closer to the university ground than the latter. That gives the student an advantage of an ease of movement through the university grounds. Another feature of the dorms that triumphs over the community apartments is that the dorms are usually less expensive than the community apartments. This is a great assistance for the student who doesn’t have enough time to work during the hours of study.
Moreover, dorms offer university students with unique services that can prove to be of great assistance to a young adult. Some of these services include laundry rooms. Another is university bathrooms that are cleaned daily by university staff members, which we all know is a great need for especially male students. And finally some others include gyms, clubs, and university playgrounds. Most of these services; however, are missing in community apartments.
Most probably the only advantage of apartments in the community is the isolation, which is of great importance to a hard working student’s concentration. On the contrary, dorms can prove to be quit hectic from time to time.
After listing the advantages and disadvantages of both places, I, as a student, may sacrifice some of the peace of community apartments for the numerous great services that dorms can offer. In the end the choice is yours.
